Hi! I recently went to the diamond district in NY and got quoted a 2.3carat K color VS2 diamond with a yellow gold setting for $17.5k. I was wondering if there was a better deal out there via Blue Nile or other internet sellers.
Thanks in advance for your help!
What shape of diamond was it? And what certificate did it have? Can you send me the report number?
It was a round diamond excellent cut and GIA but I don’t have the certificate number!
OK. Unfortunately, without the GIA report, I have no way of knowing if the diamond was well cut or not, so I’m unable to compare it to others.
But I found these two diamonds that are much better priced:
Those look great especially the second one (2.31 carat). Do you think it is worth it to spend a bit more for a better than K color for this kind of size? It does look a bit yellowish at the bottom. Will people be able to see the yellowness in the real world?
My max budget is 16k but obviously, I would like to spend much less than that.
The color depends on what style setting (solitaire, pave/side stone, halo) and metal (yellow/white gold, platinum) you want to put it in. Did you already choose a setting?
I would like to go with a very simple and thin solitaire setting with yellow gold!.
Then a K color diamond will look amazing in it. It’s not even an issue with that size.
Here is a J color diamond, also beautiful and eye-clean, a 2.21ct for $13.990 for you to compare:

The link you sent for the diamond was already sold. Would you be able to suggest a new ring?
Another quick question if my gf ever wanted to change the setting to have pave diamonds in it, would K color still be ok for the main diamond? Thanks again for your help!
Take a look at these two diamonds:
Blue Nile LD09959101
They are very similar in qualities, but I like the BN one a bit more thanks to the lower price.
Thanks for all your help!!! Just purchased it.
Great news! I’m glad I could help.
