Love your website! I have read all the educational articles but still want to ask for advice.
This is the setting I want to get:
Blue Nile Petite Vintage Pavé Leaf Diamond Engagement Ring
I don’t mind spending 10-12k on the diamond. What is the best one to go with? G ideal VS1?
I saw this one: Blue Nile LD08754183
The issue with the stone you found is the medium fluorescence on an F color grade. It can cause a hazy look, that’s why I don’t recommend purchasing it.

The stone is also deeper than we usually recommend. We suggest searching for stones with depth up to 62.6%
Have a look at this diamond:
Blue Nile LD07920034
It’s very well cut and a great way to go.
What do you think?
I like the one you have selected but do I need an F with the setting I have selected? Could I get away with a lower color without noticing a difference? What about the clarity, would you recommend going down a notch?
If you’re willing to go down with the grade, you can get this G color stone:
Blue Nile LD08556616
Or an H color diamond is also going to look colorless:
Blue Nile LD08742358
And as you can see, you can get a bigger stone for the same buck.

What do you think?
What would you recommend for the setting I have selected. Get the higher color diamond or go with G or H?
I would personally go for an H color diamond with this setting. It’s going to look colorless and saves you money.
