I’m interested in a 2.01ct round brilliant cut diamond from James Allen. It’s a J colour with slight fluorescence and is an SI1 graded by GIA.
On the magnified images there is a small inclusion in the center that appears black on the image. In reality how eye visible will this inclusion be? And will it actually appear like a black mark as it does on the magnified image? Would I be better off choosing a higher clarity and a marginally smaller carat?

Unfortunately, this diamond is not eye-clean. The black crystal would be VERY visible in real life. I would definitely skip it.
Would you like me to recommend a better option? What style setting are you going to use?

Yes please I’m looking for a solitaire 6 prong setting. Diamond wise I’m looking for a round brilliant cut, pretty much 2ct or as close too, that is eye clean and not visibly yellow. Budget wise I’m aiming for between 12-14k Australian dollars.

The inclusion on the table is subtle and transparent and wouldn’t be too visible in person. The diamond has a beautiful cut and would be very bright and brilliant.
That is a really good diamond. However I have been informed it is over my partners budget:( Would you mind taking a look at this one and letting me know your thoughts? Is a 1.5ct noticeably smaller than a 1.7ct once set?
There’s definitely a bit of size difference, but you’d have to compare the diamonds side by side in order to notice it. In reality, nobody usually knows what or a 1.7ct (1.5ct respectively) is supposed to look like. 1.5ct is still a pretty big rock and when properly cut, it would absolutely make an impressive ring.

This one is not bad, but its cut is rather mediocre.

How do you workout from images how good a diamonds cut is? I find it so hard to tell.
Even though the mm difference between a 1.5 and 1.4 would not be that noticeable, my ego would very much prefer a 1.5-1.6ct with the same colour and clarity. Would you be able to find me another one that you think is really well cut in that kind of size range?
We have access to the GIA reports and I always check the certificate prior to recommending/commenting on something. If you contact the customer service department, they can send you the report immediately via phone, chat or text.

As you can see, the first one is even smaller than the 1.46ct and the second one is virtually the same size (but the difference in price is significant).
If we go higher in carats, the price will jump up even more and you’d still get pretty much the same dimensions:

I definitely agree that the 1.46ct appears to be a lot better cut than the other options.
As a final decision could you let me know what you think of: 10899236 and 10531714. The price range of these two appear quite reasonable for the size increase.
I just want to be absolutely comfortable with my choice as I won’t be looking to ‘upgrade’ in the future:)

This one is very poorly cut. The table % of 61 is too high and would lead to worse light refraction. Also, the pavilion angle is higher than what’s ideal.

Strong fluorescence should be avoided on anything higher than a K color. It usually causes haziness in daylight.
If it wasn’t for your advice I’d make the wrong choice for sure! We are going to purchase the 1.46ct round brilliant.
