Hi, I am looking for an engagement ring. The stone must be cushion cut, max budget for the stone is $2900 and would love for it to be as close to 1 karat as possible with no visible inclusions.. It will be put in 14K White Gold Pave Halo setting. I found some on James Allen, they are J color, but is there a problem with putting a j color diamond in a halo setting that has different colors?
Also, is there a problem with a diamond that has a lower depth? I found this diamond which is only .90 k but has a larger length and width than the 1 k ones I was looking at. What is your opinion on this? https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/0.90-carat-j-color-vs2-clarity-sku-170663?a_aid=dmnd1357
Thanks!
To be honest, I would not go with that diamond. J color is too low for a cushion cut, especially if its going in a halo setting. Also, the depth isn’t a problem, but the table is way to big.

I prefer the first one. What do you think?
Thank you, I will add that diamond to my short list. What do you think about this one? https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/1.00-carat-i-color-vs1-clarity-sku-233901?a_aid=dmnd1357
Thanks!!
Its horribly cut. Way too deep. You are better off with a better cut 0.90 Ct.

These would be my other options for you. I still like the first one.
Thanks, I still like the first one better as well. I have one more that I found and wonder what you think of it. It’s a little higher than our budget but I like the length to width ratio and it is almost 1 carat.
Thanks so much!!
That one looks great, but you said you wanted diamonds cheaper, not more expensive. I would still go with the original as this one doesn’t give you that much gain in size.
