I am in the market to purchase a loose diamond, which will likely be going into a 14k white gold split shank setting, with pave diamonds on each of the shanks (any thoughts on 14k white gold vs 18k or platinum? I have been told 14k will be best for this setting as the shanks are VERY thin and 14k white gold will be the best given its strength). I intend to spend approximately $7,000 on the stone itself.
