I have read through your site and figured I would give you a try. I am looking for a cushion cut 1.5 carat. It seems like color F-H and clarity of SI1-SI2 would be my best option. I also have some setting examples that I could share. We were planning on using Diamonds Direct in Richmond, VA but have decided to shop around.
Ultimately I would like to be in the $10K-12K range. Any guidance is appreciated.
Are you looking for a square or more rectangular diamond?
Feel free to send the settings you found.
We are looking for something that is more square. Here are some examples of the types of settings that my fiancee likes. She found some others at Diamonds Direct but I don’t have examples of them.
Great. Thanks. Let’s work on the setting first and then we will search for diamonds.
I found some setting options and would like to know if you like some of them:

The following comments and images are from my fiancee. I assume we need to get down to a single setting to move forward. Can you answer her questions? I have cc’d her on this email.
Thanks.
……
I’m attempting to narrow it down. I found the most options through James Allen and have picked two that I really like. I don’t have a gold or platinum preference, the gold just happened to be what came up. The second option may not be a contender because the write up shows that it has to be round and the max stone size is 1.5. If that’s correct, and those points are flexible, then we go for the first because I don’t want round.
Blue Nile options
I’m not clear if these options can be set with a square/rectangular stone, but I really like them both. If not, I can go back to the drawing board.
Both of the BN diamonds can be set with rounds only (if you scroll down a bit more, you’ll see the “can be set with” section).
I’m guessing that both companies might be able to adjust some of their settings for a different diamond shape, however, you would pay a bit more and the setting will become non-refundable (at least on JA).
So for now, it seems like the first one from JA is a winner. Maybe try to take a look at www.since1910.com as well? They have a lot of options and you might end up liking some of them as well. If not, we can move forward with the first from JA.
Thanks for confirming that the BN settings were round only. I suspected as much, but wasn’t sure. I’ve looked at the 1910 site and didn’t find anything that really interested me. I think we should move forward with the first JA setting. So, what’s next? Thanks and look forward to hearing from you.
Sure. No problem.
Here are two diamonds around 1.50ct I found to be the best options on JA:

Let me know what you think.
Those appear to be beautiful diamonds! Based on the information on your website I was thinking we should consider clarity of SI1 and SI2. Are there any stones (they can be larger) that we should consider?
Thanks.
I always search for SI2+, but sometimes it happens that the least expensive one that is also eye-clean has a higher clarity/color grade.
I searched again just to be sure and found one more, although it’s VS1 again:

The prices are not very different and they all look very good to me. Do you have a recommendation? Should we wait a day or 2 to see if they have get new inventory that is SI2 but larger?
We can wait a day or two if you want. Get back to me tomorrow and I’ll see what I can find then.
Sounds good.
I did some searching on my own. Would either of these be worth considering if we want “eye clean”?
www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/1.71-carat-h-color-si1-clarity-sku-3115585?a_aid=dmnd1357
They all are unavailable, but unfortunately, none of them is eye-clean.
I went ahead and placed an order based on one of your recommendations. Let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks for the help!
