Hello,

I’m looking for for a cushion cut diamond for an engagement ring. I’ve learned a lot from your site it has been such a great resource thank you. I was wondering if you could guide me a little more. This is what I have so far, my girlfriend wants that setting, but the diamond she left up to me. The price is about as high as I want to go. Is there a better value?

This is the setting: 14K WHITE GOLD PAVE HALO DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RING (CUSHION EMERALD, RADIANT)

And the diamond I found:

For cushions, it’s great to keep the depth under 68% and the table shouldn’t exceed 70% (https://www.diamonds.pro/education/cushion-cut/). As for the color, I would recommend sticking with H+ color with none, faint or medium fluorescence (medium and strong fluorescence on D-G colored diamonds can cause a hazy/milky look in daylight).

Regarding the stone you found, it’s a nice, well-cut diamond.

We don’t usually recommend overpaying for D-F stones as most people aren’t able to see the difference in person. Have a look at these alternatives that may maximize your budget:

They’re well-cut, eye-clean and brilliant. They’re slightly bigger than the one found (see the actual measurements).

Thank you so much for the guidance. I love all the stones you recommended. The first two especially caught my eye. I think I’m leaning towards the first one though, with both stones being so similar I figured I might as well save a little money.

You’re welcome. I’m glad you like them. The first one is reasonably priced, I like it as well.
