Hi, I was wondering if you could help me find a great ring for my budget.
My budget is $2000 for the diamond & setting together.
I’m looking to get a white gold solitaire setting (nothing fancy needed) with a round diamond.
I would love to get 3/4 carat minimum if that is possible within my budget to still get a good cut and everything.
One other thing – the ring size is 2.5 and I have been having trouble finding that size offered on the big 3 websites.
Thanks for your consideration!
I like these options for you:

Blue Nile Classic Four Prong Engagement Ring

These diamonds are fantastically cut and either of them will be very brilliant. As for the ring size, just message the customer services of both companies and see if they can adjust the settings for you.
What do you think?
So I went ahead and already ordered a diamond from James Allen. I used this email address and the advice from your website.
However, now that we are in touch I was wondering if you could look at the one I ordered and tell me if it is worth it or not? There is a 30 day return policy so I could certainly return it and go for a different one if there is something I missed in this one.
It is similarly priced to the two you sent me, with a worse clarity grade and a better color grade. My big question about it is whether the “cloud” inclusion will make a difference in brilliance or if I missed anything else about it.
Let me know how it compares to the two you sent me. Thanks!
A cloud characteristics on an SI2 diamond is a big concern and usually a big problem. It negatively affects the brilliance of the stone. I understand you wanted a better quality diamond, but it’s not the color, but the cut what makes the diamond beautiful and brilliant. You can ask JA if they can still get it inspected by their in-house gemologists. They will tell you whether the cloud is an issue or not.
Let me know how it goes!
Thanks for the quick response!
I will ask them about the cloud.
Both of the diamonds that you suggested have color J. Will that not be noticeable?
In a solitaire setting? It won’t. There are no additional diamonds in the band that might make the difference in colors noticeable. The diamond will still look colorless.
So I went ahead and contacted James Allen and had them change out the diamond I had ordered with the one you suggested – it was still pre-production so no big deal. I was worried about that cloudiness and the one you suggested seems better overall.
Thanks for your help!
Great, I’m glad it worked out well for you and it was still possible to change the diamond.
You’re very welcome, I’m glad I could help.
Let me know how it looks when it arrives.
