I am looking for a diamond around 2 carats, ideal cut. It will be mounted against a wide gold band. From what I have read I can get a diamond a little further down the color scale because of the band color. As far as clarity goes I was thinking VS1. It will be a round cut. I see prices all over the board. I looked at James Allen who looks reasonable and Brian Gavin who is more expensive. I want to make sure I am comparing apples to apples. Any input?
I checked the inventory of JA and Brian Gavin but I found the best bang for your buck on Blue Nile:

This stone is very well cut and going to look colorless in a solitaire style setting: https://www.diamonds.pro/education/color/.
What do you think?
That looks pretty good. I thought that Blue Nile was not such a great company when compared to other dealers. This however may not be the case. Can you find something close to this diamond more in the 12,000 range. Would consider something just a shade under 2 carats.
We have had great experiences with Blue Nile.
Here’s a very well cut diamond within 12k:

You can also go one color grade down. A J color stone is great for a solitaire style setting:
What do you think?
You think the J would look good against a wide gold band?
Yes, if there are no additional diamonds in the setting, J color is great: https://www.diamonds.pro/education/color//.
Great, can you give me the link to that diamond again? Thanks for your help.
Do you mean the link with the J color stone?

Thanks!
My pleasure.
