Hello, I would greatly appreciate your help in finding a diamond to go with a setting that I found on JamesAllen.com.
Here is the information that you requested in order for me to receive links to diamonds on JamesAllen from you:
1) Budget for the diamond (not including the setting): $15-18K, and ideally I’m looking for a slightly rectangular cushion cut (as opposed to perfectly square).
2) Color of the metal: Yellow Gold. I know this means that I can sacrifice on color a bit, but I was wondering if you would advise against this when it comes to larger diamonds (>2 carat). Should I buy in the I-J range rather than going down to K?
3) Style of the setting: Side stone, as seen here: https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/side-stones/18k-yellow-gold-scalloped-shared-prong-engagement-ring-item-3363?a_aid=dmnd1357
4) I was also wondering if I should only select a diamond with “very good” to “excellent” polish and symmetry. I’m unfamiliar with how important each of those characteristics are.
Thank you so much for your help, this obviously means a great deal to me.
With a cushion cut, you should drop down below H color. Sure, in a yellow gold solitaire you can cheat to I color. But with those larger diamonds on the side, its better to be safe than sorry. I love this diamond for you:
Its perfectly cut, eye-clean and very bright. What do you think?
Thank you so much for the fast reply! I love that diamond, and it might be the one. However, If we push the price more towards, or just above 18k-19k do you think we could find one just like it only a little larger (but still rectangular)?
…
Never mind. I researched other diamonds, and of course, your selection was the best. I just made my purchase! Thanks again for your help.
Sounds great. I was about to write that you won’t get a noticeably larger diamond and its not worth spending the money.
Let me know how it looks when it arrives please.
Will do, thanks again.
