Hi, I am looking at buying an engagement ring with a diamond appox. 1 carat in size. In your opinion, would the following diamond be a good choice? If not, is there a diamond you would recommend that is approximately 1 carat in the $2000-$3000USD range?
I looked at the diamond and to be perfectly honest, it’s not such a great choice. The cut is pretty bad on it. In general, for a round brilliant I wouldn’t settle for anything less than an EX (Ideal) cut as the cut is what makes the diamond brilliant and beautiful.
Also, we recommend K color for a yellow gold solitaire only, so if you’re using any other type of the setting or metal’s color, it might have warmish tones in it. https://www.diamonds.pro/education/color/

This diamond is very well cut, eye-clean and bright. I just suggest contacting JA and ask them to get it inspected by their gemologists to make sure the feather on the edge is not an issue. It looks fine to me, but it’s better to be hundred percent sure about it.
