Hello, I’m looking to buy a marquise diamond for a certain setting, and I am a bit clueless as to wether I’m getting a good deal. The setting I am looking at is at a Jared Galleria store. I have heard you say on podcasts that you can save quite a bit of money by buying diamonds online. Do you think that would still be the best idea even though I’m getting the setting from a local store?
Thanks for your time!
Yes, I do. Can you send me a link to the setting and let me know what your ballpark budget is for the diamond? I can make a recommendation and we can see if Jared comes close.
Thanks so much for your time! Here is the link to the setting:

Apparently there is a max diamond size you can have for this ring. The website says any where from a .45 to .57 carat marquise, but when I went in to the store their master jeweler said he thought he could put anything up to a 1 carat diamond in it. What are your thoughts on that? I liked the looks of the larger diamond on there if you think its not to risky to buy a larger one in the chance it may not fit too well.
So, I have been looking at diamonds in the .8 to 1 carat range which kind of outlines my budget. If there is anything that would make the diamond slightly better looking (polish, cut, etc.) to the naked eye I would like to spend the extra money to get it, but I am just not sure where that line is.
What is your budget for the diamond?
I would say anything up to $6,000.
There is no reason to spend that much. I love this diamond for you:
Awesome, thanks for the suggestion! Do you think a diamond this size will be able to be set in the ring setting I attached below or is that something I will have to talk to the store about?
You would need to speak to them.
