Hi there. I’m a Canadian looking for my forever oval diamond. You have specific buying tips for other shapes but not ovals. What do you recommend for the 4Cs for this shape? It would be set in 14k white gold. I’m looking for best bang for buck for 1 carat. Is it worth buying online in states and having set in Canada or does end all work out to the same by the time I’m done with duty taxes and final setting?
Thank you in advance.
We recommend purchasing online as you can get better value this way (even after adding the costs for shipping and taxes).

This is a quality diamond we recommend. An H color stone is going to look colorless, it’s very well cut, eye-clean and there’s no bow-tie effect.
What do you think?
Thank you for your reply. I’m ultimately looking for the best stone in best shape for $3500-4500 Canadian.
I dream about ovals and cushions but if princess is more bang for your buck I don’t mind either.
Any other suggestions?
If you wish for these shapes, go for it. I found a cushion cut stone on Blue Nile:
Blue Nile LD06564025
And here’s a slightly smaller oval shape stone:

We’ve had great experiences with both companies. The diamonds on BN are duty free but there will be import tax to Canada.
Let me know what you think.
