Hi there – great site – thanks for your assistance. I have an engagement ring setting ready for a Princess cut diamond. Have done lots of reading about Princess cut grading, understand no labs except AGS provide a cut grade, and am interested in finding an AGS Triple 0 diamond. Size .6 to .7 ct, with clarity anywhere down to SI1 and color G or above. I kind of have an idea that I couldn’t go wrong with any AGS Triple 0 that fit those parameters, but I might not know what I’m talking about. 🙂
Thanks for any guidance.
I’d be happy to make some recommendations and guide you through the process. What type of setting are you considering? Yellow gold or white gold/platinum? Will it be a solitaire or does it have sidestones/pave? This may affect the colors that I recommend for the center diamond (as we explain in our post on color).
Also, what is your budget?
Thanks for your reply. The setting is white gold and does have side stones, seven small diamonds on each side. Attached a photo – not the best, but will give you an idea.
Budget is $1200-$1800. I know I might be asking a lot for that budget, but just want to see if it’s possible.
Thanks for your help!
…
Hi again, my budget has moved up to $2000-$2100.
Your budget doesn’t seem to be in line with your parameters. I would strongly suggest changing your parameters:
1) A GIA excellent cut is just as good as an AGS zero. If you were looking for a true super ideal, AGS’s light performance grade is the common cert, but that would be way out of your budget.
2) You should be dropping in color (for sure) and possibly clarity:

Our video on that page does a great job highlighting our point.
This is my recommendation for you:
What do you think?
I hear what you’re saying about budget and parameters, will consider your suggestions. And thanks very much for the diamond recommendation.
My pleasure. Let me know if you need any more help (and let me know what you decide to do in the end).
