Hi, firstly, looking through your page and it’s a wonderful place to learn about all things diamond. I recently purchased a cushion cut from James Allen that’s going to be going onto an engagement ring, currently second guessing myself now. Could you please advise me if i made the right choice? Depending on your response I may be using their return policy.

Thank you!
Thank you for the kind words. We appreciate it. Now, let’s see how I can help you.
That diamond doesn’t look bad, but it’s cut a little too deep than what we recommend (60-69%). Also, we think that lowering the color grade a little can get you the best bang for your buck.
How much was the diamond?
The diamond was purchased for $4900.
Being of asian background, my family and elders would only want the best colour grade. Unfortunately this means even if there is a loss in my “bang for buck”.
I understand.
Still, if you don’t mind returning the diamond, something like this would be a much better option (a little cheaper and more brilliant):

What do you think?
Thanks for your time I will receive my diamond I originally purchased in 2 days so I will be basing my decision from that and keeping your 2 diamond recommendations in mind.
My pleasure. Let me know how it looks when it arrives.
